I don't want to compare him to Mike White but he has some similiar viewpoints. He likes Ruston and there's not a ton of pressure as there would be at a bigger school (P5?).
Weak comparison. He should have stuck to not comparing when he said he didn't want to.
- Holtz has had a taste of P5 lite. Other than a couple of Big12 teams, I don't see any P5s coming after him. He is still tainted.
- White is looking for an ELITE basketball program. He will leave eventually.
Neither coach "likes Ruston" enough to keep them in the "Tech Family". Money talks.
well that and his offers from 3 SEC schools coming out of hs. Remember who taught you to quit focussing on RBs and watch Willie Roaf-- how many times did we watch those tapes?? I also predicted Scotty Young would lead us to glory and Bates appeared to be natural leader -- 2 for 3 but horribly wrong on Scotty.
I was hoping for solid Spring game but coach even expressed disappointment with kickers--- I liked the way the Marshall qb would have option on fourth down plays to pass or kick-- very effective-- believe it or not that was not unusual years ago on THIRD down plays, 3 and 15-20 yards, quick kick. WRs would usual down the ball and zero return yard -- heck, some qbs even did drop kicks for field goals and Blanda played till almost 50 as a kicker for Oakland
It would be cool to get some reddit AMAs going for Tech. Similar to this.
Shouse, the skinny one, will be the starting punter.
Field goals will be barnes or fischer. Kickoffs will be fischer.
the problem with having two good kickers is not picking one and hurting both. Hopefully they have a competition in the fall and settle it. Stick with the kicker for the season.
Fischer was good in 2013 and could be again if he was named starter. Barnes could be a good kicker if he wasn't looking over his shoulder every kick.
Consistency will not happen until one gains some confidence.
