This is what I am talking about. Radio stations have professional sales people on their staffs which make it a profitable venture. Why isnt there an effort to get Learfield to release the rights so we could move on.

No way Learfield would release the baseball rights. Having Tech negotiate prices for baseball radio would not do Learfiled any favors, when trying to sell spots for other sports. If baseball spots were sold at a discount, according to Learfield rates, business would expect the same for the other sports.

Everyone seems to be missing my point. Learfield did not act whether it be they are lazy or not enough interest or not enough sponsors or whatever and I think everyone can agree on that. Therefore, why didnt the radio station with their professional sales staff just offer Learfield a fee to let them cover the games, Tech would not be involved in the negotiations. Learfield gets some monetary benefit, radio station with their pro sales staff could make out like bandits, and we wouldnt lose anything in the deal since Learfield will still be paying us their annual contract fee. School wouldnt get any more money but everyone else comes out ahead when Learfield gets their fee, the radio station gets its hunk, and fans can listen to the games. Thats a no brainer.

LA TECH makes it hard on its fans, we are used to it now...I think it is embarrassing that I am a fan in another state and that I sometimes have to go to the other teams website to listen to a game, especially when the game is in Ruston. I blame our administration for that. If they allow Learfield to interfere, than Learfield needs to go...

That is correct. This is why some businesses have had a hard time coming on board, since Learfield took over the advertising. All of Learfields pricing is done off of market research. Any other pricing would only hurt what the guys at Learfield do.
