Ouch. Some bad breaks in that one. Feel sorry for Panama. That was dreadful officiating in favor of Mexico.

Yep, our lackluster play, our very AMETURIST play, caught up to us. We have issues. Some are calling for Klinnsman's head. That's to be expected after that disaster last night.

    Refs.....

First, I was a soccer ref for many years, including some college matches and semi-pro games. So, I am not one to knock refs....it's a tough gig. Still, they screwed up BIG time for poor ole Panama. That's a royal screwing. And, that call on Guzan, while correct, is just never called. You'll usually see GKs carry the ball past the 18 when they punt it, which is still a "handling" call. But, it's simply not called. Was last night, and it ended up being the game-changer.

My beef with the refs in the US game in that regard is this. Okay, you (you refs) have decided to enforce the rules strictly for the keepers. Alright....then why wasn't the Jammy GK called for the NUMEROUS 6-second violations? Hmmmm? Oh, I see, you decided to only enforce the rules ONE time last night. No consistency. That's my gripe.

Our loss was part of a double-whammy yesterday....

I wouldn't blame the refs for the US loss - Jamaica deserved the win. There was no urgency in the team with 10-15 minutes left to go. Bradly is just overrated. There is no Landon to save their ass this time around.

    1. Bradley is not a 10. He never will be a 10. He is playing out of position and is not a holding back. Way too many losses.

    2. Our defense is awful. Especially our CB. The Women's team plays defense way better and way more technical than we do.

    3. JK has got to stop experimenting every single match. The players will never gel when it's a different squad each night. Pick a lineup and stick with it. Let them work through the issues. If he wants to go with the youth movement, fine. Take out players like Bradley, Dempsey, etc... That will limited in effectiveness in 2018.

    4. The Confederates cup will be telling this year about the future of JK. He still has support from the boss, but fan support is wavering and player support won't be far behind.

    A couple of things --

    1) If Bradley isn't a 10, and he's not a holding midfielder, what is he? I actually think he's our best 6, much better than Beckerman or Jones, but Klinsmann has continually insisted on making him more of an attacker, which isn't his strength. He should be plugged into the defensive/holding midfield spot with a young attacker to pair with him in the midfield.

    2) Gonzalez and Besler are our two best central defenders. Brooks and Alvarado are more skilled and technical, and Klinsmann wants to use them to play out of the back. They can get up the field and distribute, but they're not as good of defenders. We don't have any players who can do both at a high level.

    3) For the most part, he did that. His top back line for this tournament was Fabian-Alvarado-Brooks-Chandler. That's who would have started against Jamaica if Chandler hadn't gotten hurt. The problem is that CB pairing was an experiment to begin with. And it backfired.

    4) Michael Bradley isn't a player who will be limited in 2018. He'll be 30, our captain and most likely our best player (especially if he plays in the 6 role, and not as an attacker). Deuce will be 35, and if he even is around to make the squad, it likely will be as a super sub to bring some offense late in the game. We should start to see some young players (Jordan Morris, Alonso Hernandez, Luis Gil, Benji Joya, Jose Villareal, Jack McInerney, Rubio Rubin, Matt Miazga) who have a shot at making the 2018 squad start to dot the roster next year.
