I spoke with a friend who confirmed that Dave wanted to stay for at least some of the post season games. He would have passed on the minor league deal all together this year had Learfield and Tech agreed to pay him the same money for baseball that they already paid him for MBB. He was told no.
Mark is McClelland's boy. Of course our AD has no clue how good Dave is and some of his money guys who don't know crap about the way a good baseball radio guy sounds say Mark is as good as Dave. No loyalty from Mr Bogus Ever Loyal Be.
Whatever the Nitzer was being paid, its not enough. He's so so good at what he does. Why is it so hard to see that?
This news is really depressing.
I believe this is the last year of Dave's 3-yr deal with Learfield. Let's all hope all minds agree on his new deal...if there is one.
An aside...Dave is oblivious to all this bulletin board talk. He told me this morning all parties agreed to have him call all baseball until the end of the regular season. And Sioux City has agreed to let him miss their first 4 games and their last two games in September. Learfield is his boss, but the university signs off on the final contract.

Does "regular season" include the conference tournament?
It was posted somewhere that Dave will miss the 1st 4 minor league games. If that's true, he will not call the CUSA Tournament games. Luckily those will be on ESPN3 and I won't have to listen to the other guy. I'd rather watch on Gametracker than listen to the other guy.

The Sioux City Explorers begin their 25th anniversary season at home on Thursday, May 18th versus the Sioux Falls Canaries at 7:05.The 2017 Conference USA Baseball Tournament will be held from May 24 through May 28
Nope.
Burroughs told Dave after hearing of his financial arrangement details he told Dave he didn't blame him one bit for listening to his Sioux City friends and doing the deal.
Again, I've explained already what could be done to keep our HoF Voice of Tech at Ruston year-round...
At some point I'd love to see our university be more pro-active in getting what so many of us fans want.

As I have posted a couple of times earlier, I have had to listen to the Nitzer more often than usual this year as I now have an athlete in high school. Basketball and baseball games have been awesome thanks to Dave. Every time I hear him on the radio it reminds me how much of a treasure Tech has on the airwaves.
A friend reminded me Saturday afternoon with an unsolicited text:
"Don't care much for college baseball. Listen to Nitz every time he's on and I'm in the car. He's that good."

It is a shame he is not a full time Tech employee.....
Our AD thinks Cramer is just great. Many of our #everloyalbe fans do too.
