As for Lumberjack Stadium, that place could become a bayou with the slightest rain. I can remember playing John Curtis in the playoffs in '84 with mud and water ankle deep in a monsoon. They brought out a helicopter a couple of hours before game time to hover over the field to try and blow the water off the field, but it did little good.
I was a senior at Tech in '84 and attended that game. My first and only Lumberjack game. It was a helluvan expeperience. Two legendary smaller-school Louisiana programs. Packed stadium. My friend was from Springhill so we got to stand on the sidelines. Had never been wetter at a football game. If memory serves, Springhill used the center snap trick play for a huge gain in the 3rd quarter.
