It has been demonstrated that if DL or LB can get at him before he gets going, he's mortal. The majority of Fournette's highlights are more about their OL than him imo.....
Agree. That's why I said he is a very, very fast Fullback. If there is a hole, the defense is in trouble. But he didn't show he could make something happen when there is no hole (in the first half of the Syracuse game).

Les gonna run him til the wheels fall off. Fournette even looked pissed during the game that he had to touch the ball close to 30 times against Syracuse. Les just doesn't trust anyone else right now on that offense. He doesn't trust the other RBs, and he doesn't trust the QB very much.

Really unfair to compare the 2. I honestly feel Dixon is a better all purpose back. He catches and blocks better... But Fournette is the better RB. There aren't 3 NFL RBs better. Both are high character guys as well.

Fournette shows he has the talent to be like Bo, Herschel, Peterson...once in a generation players. will he be that good in the long run? who knows? injuries, over work, etc. lots of things can derail a guy.
Dixon is one of the best backs in the country this year, definitely top ten and maybe top five. he is a great runner but a definite all around guy as others have said...good blocker, and a GREAT receiver.
but from physical talent? Fournette is ahead of everyone in the country, including the Georgia guy, Chubb. but scouts know who Dixon is; needs no more fumbles in his career, his only Waterloo I can see

Fair assessment. Fournette will be a Top 10 pick. Dixon will likely be a mid-round pick, which is pretty good for running backs these days.

p.s.--Fournette has really good hands. LSU just doesn't throw to the backs very often.

What year did Holtz run Dixon into the ground? So far, I think he got his most carries of the season this past weekend and it was 25 carries, which is where, I think, he should be. He only got 18 against K. State which is I believe why we lost the game. His best carries came later in the game. Get him to about 25 and we would never had to have gone into overtime. I'll admit, I'll have to do research for the previous 2 years, but I really don't remember him getting excessive carries last year either.

I think 22-25 total touches/targets is where we need to be with Dixon. Maybe as many as 27 if the screen passes are gaining a lot of yardage.

2013, he was so beaten and battered that he had to leave early or completely miss the Lamar, Tulane, Southern Miss, Rice , and UTSA games. All that and he still had 60 more carries than the Tevin. It was obvious after the Lamar game when he came out that he was banged up, every week other than UTEP this board had a meltdown thread concerning his health.

He came out of the Lamar game because of a knee injury early in the game when when Scotty Young hung him out on a pass. He also missed the following game. It was not because Holtz had him carry the ball too much.

    Re: Dixon > Fournette

Dixon limps some almost every single game. I don't think it is because he gets to many carries. He is a warrior and plays hard! Just about every game on tv, the announcers say something about him limping. My comment is always - "just watch - he will be in on the next play".

This is relative, 20-25 carries for a healthy back with a decent O-line is one thing. 20-25 carries to a guy who has had to leave games early due to injury behind what was one of the worst O-lines in the country that season is another. KD is a warrior and I think he sold to Holtz that he was okay after the Lamar game when he was not.

Anybody that saw that game knows that Dixon took a hard hit to his knee. He was lucky to come back as early as he did. He missed the next game and came back the following game.
