LSU is investigating if sophomore RB Leonard Fournette's family broke NCAA rules by profiting off Fournette's name, image or likeness, according to Josh Peter of USA Today.
The school is looking into the family's involvement in a website that was built to sell merchandise using Fournette’s catchphrase. The family's manager paid $10,000 for said web site that was subsequently shut down 24 hours later. The family, according to Peter, insisted Fournette's name or image not be used on the apparel. As of now, it seems this is at the LSU level and not the NCAA level. We don't expect any conclusion or result to come for some time.

I get trying to trumpet Dixon to get him the credit he deserves among the nation's elite backs. And I even get the fascination with dispelling (or fostering) the Fournette myth. But, this is a Louisiana Tech message board, and one would think that there has to be plenty of topics (especially current football) to warrant their own threads -- instead of hashing through the praise or bashing of other institutions or players not associated with Tech.
Surely there's enough justifiable Tech-centric conversations to be had, like:
- DEFENSE: Tech has the #7 ranked rush defense in yards/game, the #41 ranked defense for total yards/game, and the #58 ranked defense for pts/game.
- OFFENSE: Tech has the #17 rank passing offense yards/game, #61 rush offense yards/game, #21 total offense yards/game, #13 scoring offense.
- INDIVIDUALS: Tech has the #15 QB yards/game in Driskel, #11 WR yards/game and #7 rec/game in Taylor, and #17 RB yards/game and #1 RB total rush TDS in Dixon.
- Notably, Dixon is #23 in points per game -- a category obviously and understandably dominated by QBs, Dixon is the highest RB.
- Even more, Dixon is now #6 all time RB rushing TDs, just 1 TD behind Ron Dayne and 2 TDs behind Ricky Williams.
After Bama, he went from Fournette to Fishnette.
The holes created by our O-Line against North Texas was similar to the openings Fournette has had before they faced Alabama. And the space Fournette was allowed against Bama looked like what Dixon has to run into on many Saturdays.
Have you considered those Dogs?
He wont get the recognition he deserves in college football because he's not at a P5 school but he is getting more attention on draft boards - some even have him in their top 5 running backs. He'll get paid next year and IF he can stay somewhat healthy he should be a productive dual threat NFL back.
So never discuss anything that's not Louisiana Tech?
I disagree -
That's what the board is for - useless banter and water cooler talk
Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE wants to compare players from and to others on other teams, decades and eras - let alone current players in the same state at the same position
I didn't think this thread was overly "lsu"
Hell, I'm one of the biggest Tech basketball fans of all time BUT my favorite college player of all-time is Pistol Pete and there is NOT a close second
