Maybe I am off but WK doesn't have half the team Marshall and Tech. Do they have a good offense and QB? Yes. Do they have one of the worst defenses in the country? Absolutely and we all know where that will get you at the end of the day. Marshall will plug in someone at the QB position and have a much better defense and talent, roster than WK. Marshall also returns that huge RB who will shred WK into pieces after Dixon writes the blueprint in week 2. I also listened to the podcast he and another guy did about the G5 teams and he talked about WK like they were on the brink of a BCS bowl this year. They play @Vandy, @Indiana, @LSU, us and Marshall. That is at least 4 losses right there.
We've seen worse from one year to the next, but it is odd to me that we're supposed to just assume that WKU and Rice are somehow going to catch up to us by the 49 and 45 points we beat them by last year (although we have that history with Rice - huge wins in either direction from year to year, it's a funny history, after 8 games not only is the series tied, but the point differential is at 0, with lots of blowouts by both teams that somehow add up to 0).
On the other hand, you may be vastly over-rating Vandy and Indiana if you think they're automatically losses for anyone.
I say they go 3-2 in that schedule, lose badly to us, beat LSU decently, blow out Indiana and Vanderbilt, and lose to Marshall within a touchdown...
Not with that defense. They lost to FIU last season and we think they are going to go on the road and win at Vandy and Indiana, etc. they gave up 40+ points in 8/12 games last year to cusa schools and worse. I know those teams aren't great but far from a probable win in my opinion.
Concerning the WKU game, just going to post this recap of last year:
Brandon Doughty, a "senior" in 2014 who was granted an extra year of eligibility after playing in four games his first two seasons, was magnificent in games that weren't against Louisiana Tech. His season passer rating was 167.1, third in the country (behind Oregon's Marcus Mariota and Ohio State's J.T. Barrett); he topped 195 on five occasions, and like Barrett, his awesome senior averages were dinged by a single awful performance (14-for-35 for 134 yards, one score, and four interceptions against Louisiana Tech). Without that, he completed 70 percent with a 48-to-6 TD-to-INT ratio.
Also, their 1500 yard rusher (Allen) only had 76 yards against us.
I think'll we'll have a decent chance of blowing them out again, or at least of shutting down their offense.

Currently they have us at #47, Marshall at #49, and Kansas State at #48

Hmmm, it would seem only WKU got any vote(s) in the AP poll. At least it will look better for us after week two
