Jeff Driskel has one last season to add a chapter of triumph and redemption to a largely disappointing college career. The former Florida quarterback is confident that he gave himself an excellent shot at doing just that by joining Conference USA favorite Louisiana Tech.

Driskel is a great kid. Oozes humility and maturity. ST have nowhere to go it up. It's gonna be a great year!

The knock on Driskel at UF was his inconsistency. Make a great play, a great throw, and then follow it up with a poor decision resulting in a turnover. Happened to watch just last night the replay of last year's UF-LSU game on the SEC Network. Driskel was hot and cold. Just as his critics say.
Now, it's a new season, a new opportunity, a different situation for him. He is a 5th year senior. One would expect maturity, experience to lead to consistent decision-making. That's what I'm expecting to see. A QB who will, from day one, be a leader on this team. And lead by example....play SMART!!!
Our online is the weak point. Lot of dropped passes.
If we can block and catch we will be just fine.
Sean Isabella wrote that the run-blocking was good but pass protection was bad... which is opposite of last year. That's strange. I guess maybe different styles of coaching with the new OL coach?
Maybe S.I. wasn't watching the same defense going against the O line???????

I am glad to welcome Driskel to the team, but after reviewing his games last year vs 2012, it's like light and day:
2012: 12 TD: 5 INT
2014: 9 TD : 10 INT
What happened, was it the injuries still nagging him? I'm a little worried that he will not be as close to effective for us as Sokol... hope I'm wrong though
Not sure about the O line difference that SI sees. I see an Oline that needs help now.
Our DBacks play SEC type physical football...we are good back there. In so many phases of the game we look like a top 20 P5 school. If we can get our guys to catch the football..and patch up the Oline, we could be really good.
The Oline worries me. Also... Who was the kicker Saturday night? He looked legit.
A porous O line would be terrible (unless they are opening big holes for Dixon and Company to run thru). Hopefully things will tighten up.
Henderson, Taylor and Turner should be solid receivers.
According to Isabella, Barnes hit 6 of 7 at the scrimmage
Its probably a culmination of his injury plus offensive instability at UF.
But note the * qualifier - "but I want to see him do it in a game"(or that inference) is interesting.
