Shuttle Service trial run at LaLAFF game

The City of Ruston will rent a 25 passenger van from iShuttle, a company based in Shreveport, and make runs between Downtown Ruston and The Joe before and after the OohLaLAFF game on October 3rd. Additionally, if a passenger presents a purchase receipt from a downtown business dated that day, they will receive a coupon to use in any restaurant or retail store upon a return visit. The Downtown iShuttle stop will likely be Railroad Park. This will be the only use of the iShuttle in 2015, but if all goes well it will be back for the entire 2016 season, with potential to expand the service to multiple pickup and drop off points.

You'd think some of the churches in the area have some of those type of vans that they could use (rent). Somebody get on the phone!!!

It is 100% better than none!

The concern is, if people know about the service and use the street parking and the parking lots near Railroad Park, it could make for a pretty good crowd waiting. But depending when they start the runs it might be ok.

But after the game there will be more of a crush of people wanting to leave. Having to wait a long time for the bus to round trip could sour people to trying it in the future. Hopefully they'll add at least one more bus, if not two, before the game gets here.

I'm just glad Ruston's trying it out! I've used shuttle services like this at sporting events and when it works, it beats the heck out of fighting the traffic and looking for close parking. Especially if the traffic cops know to try and expedite the buses through intersections.

The Insurance liability might be hefty for the churches these days. However, the Laf people would be used to it with all the shuttling they do for Festivals.

I guess it's for the folks who decide to shop and eat downtown before heading to the Joe. Most will be parking around the stadium and campus.

When we go to Rangers games we use these shuttles all the time from the hotels -

If done right, using proper planning - two to four of these shuttles can move a lot a people in a short period of time

Wouldn't this have been better suited for the Southern game? Also, if successful, will people travel to Ruston expecting this for other games this season and be upset when they park downtown and no shuttle is available?

always thought the lack of shuttles kept some folks away. some folks just don't want to get there 6 hours ahead of time to try to get a spot so they can be close to the stadium so they don't go at all. Glad they are testing it out

Because we have such a huge campus? Campus lots (Hale Hall, Hut, etc) are not full.
