We had birds yesterday but hard to work/hunt them. Ended up with couple mallards and a hollywood. My guys this am are finding few birds. Monroe was slow but better than before.

brought home 8 today and had 3 we couldn't locate. didn't seem to be a whole lot more birds but worked better. my friend and co limited again today but took a lot longer.
Still stuck in the hospital. Glad y'all are getting to have some late season action.
she's not ready for the blind we have in Mer Rouge. had hoped that we'd have some wood ducks on the creek this year to start her off. there has been zero on darbonne creek and beaver pond around us. friend hunts a rice field and hopefully can make a hunt with her there this week some time. Been some serious grumbling in our blind this year about how things have changed in duck hunting in this area. of course we're in the second of two of the worst years in memory for duck hunting. easy to get frustrated.
I went Sunday for the last hunt of the year.
Shortly after daylight, 2 grays bombed out of the sky into in our small hole in the buck/button brush. They met their maker with a small flurry of shots. About 15 minutes later, a greenhead suffered the same fate without picking up a call. And about 30 minutes later, the 2015-2016 duck "harvest" ended....with a miracle shot on a greenhead that slipped in on us. I managed to shoulder my gun and clip him on the way out of the hole. Now, the waiting begins for next year. I guess I'll have to play some golf to pass the time!!
I opted for the deer stand the last weekend and struck out. Now it's time to get mad at some fish.

What a difference a year makes! We're going full bore next year with full plantings of millet, pit blinds and such before we pass judgement on the place.
