We need to dedicate scholarships to talented musicians independent of their major! A large majority of the band 30 years ago were engineering majors . It was a decent scholarship with the benefit of registering first every quarter. Really made a big difference in the early stages of my college career and also helped recruit players that initially weren't in the band their first year.

Louisiana Tech has an Engineering Foundation that raises money for various things including scholarships. Every year, the band types complain about lack of funds but never do anything about it.
