They won't be announced until September 23rd. Since Tech started later, the Fall 2015 enrollment will be announced later than everyone else.

    Let's make it perfectly clear.

    LSU-Alexandria: Close it now!
    Grambling State: Close it now!
    Nichols: Close it now!
ULM: Tech needs to take it over or close it now!
lsus: Tech needs to take it over or close it now!

Nope. And in this state, it would be Political suicide for anyone that tries it.

In this state, we need a total review of all universities. Every single institution, Tech, LSU, Nicholls, needs to come before a neutral panel and answer: Why should you stay open, and what can you offer that the university down the road can't?

Yes and universities who excel - i.e. Tier 1 status, etc. competes with the same $$$$$ as schools wh have no hope of getting listed nationally & internationally!

The criteria in higher education should be very similar to private business - the strongest survive and the weak links do with less or go away. ROI!!!!! If a politician cannot stand up and tell that story without losing their job, they didn't have much of one to begin with.

I agree with you totally, but if any of them were to survive, an argument could be made to keep LSUA since there is nothing else there, but, they should only be a 2 year school, not 4. Those students could easily be absorbed by Northwestern since it is about an hour away though.

    Re: 2015 Enrollment Figures

LSU-A was a two year school for a long time. LSU-S wasn't two year nearly as long. Even LSUNO started as a two year school. Why not go ahead and make LSU-Eunice a four year school (Ha)? Nicholls was a two year school at first, too. We probably had too many four year colleges way back when there were only LSU (BR), Tech, Northwestern, Northeast, Southeast, McNeese, USL and the two traditional black colleges -- Southern and Grambling. All corners of the state were covered and the top and bottom middle. Only the real middle (Alexandria) didn't have a four year school and it is about 90 miles to the surrounding ones. Of course politics finally had them put one in Shreveport although it was closer to NW or Tech than Alex was to any one.
