I must be completely out of the loop with baseball. I can understand replacing grass with turf, but the dirt will be turf too??

Notre Dame (FieldTurf installation 2014)
I think its a wise move...
Should help recruiting, improve the looks of the field, cut down on rain outs etal
Save the SPARTA also

And yes I know the University uses surface water from Lake Reneau to water the lawns and fields

Will we now have the nicest facility in CUSA?
Wish the baseball field could be moved. Love Field would have an asymmetrical layout if we ever decide to expand to the facility.
Yeah, I am in favor of this, for many of the reasons y'all have listed: time, lack of resources (both human and natural) to adequately maintain grass, and for recruiting. It sounds like the challenge will be for our players to adjust to the differences of playing on grass vs turf...and in baseball, the differences sound fairly significant.
Dittos to comments that defer decision to our coaches for what is best for program. Any one have insights on length of time to install and time table when all of this to happens. Any other insights, please keep them coming. Not aware of this in baseball as an option. Wonder if Coach had it at Campbell University.
It'll take about 45 days. Not sure on exact start date, but soon.
Also noticed work on the home bullpen area, a brick wall replacing the fence. Looks like the first base side is also getting work.
This was as of Aug. 20th.
