    Total Offensive Yards

    I saw a graphic watching my recording of the game that showed this year's offense is averaging more yards per game than did the 2012 team, and any Tech team in history. After our 472 today that should still be the case.

    I didn't verify it, but assume it's true since I saw it on TV...and let's face it...stuff on TV is just as factual as stuff on Facebook, so...

    I find that stat interesting.

    Re: Total Offensive Yards

    I thought I heard them say at some point on the broadcast that we had averaged 590 yds a game coming into today. I thought I heard them wrong. I know we have been productive, but that just seemed high. It has been deceptive because we haven't had as many homeruns maybe? More big runs, and yards after catch next week

    That would have to be total yards. I just looked at total offensive yards. Maybe it's true with total yards.

    see that is what I thought as well, but that wasn't how he phrased it. The broadcast guys weren't very good, but I will never turn down TV when I can't be in Ruston.

    587 - Southern
    580 - WKU
    451 - KState

    472 - FIU

    Not that the announcers are smart enough to read what is in front of them, but we prepare the notes they work off of.

    2 Big differences between this 2015 team and the 2012 team:

    1) The 2012 team knew how to score. They could score quickly, and score in bunches. In fact, I believe that 2012 team led the nation in scoring for the entire season, or finished 2nd. Regardless, this 2015 team is proving that it can move the ball just fine, as long as it's between the 20's. But this 2015 team hasn't learned to "cash it in" with scores like that 2012 team did. Of course, it's still early, and that could change.

    2) The 2012 team had zero defense. Worst defense I've ever seen. No lead was safe until the final whistle. Meanwhile, the 2015 version appears to be great at stopping the run, and has proven that it can defend pretty well against the pass, with the exception of its' Safety play. No, this defense isn't as good as the 2014 version, but it could still happen. It's still early.

    This year the o line would be pretty good if healthy.

    Not true in the 1st half of A&M or USU games. Franklin and Dykes sucked in those games. Not true in the San Jose game either, but in their defense they were job hunting at that point and I'm sure distracted.

    The 2012 O was simply amazing. I don't know why we had the slow starts vs. A&M and USU, other than, maybe, some credit has to be given to the DC of those teams who had their squads well prepared. Eventually, as we know, our O got rolling and had there been a 5th qtr we'd have blown their wheels off. Still, the 2012 offense is the best I have seen in Tech uniforms, and that includes all the other great teams we've had. And, we've been blessed with some awesome offenses!

    Just think how good we woulda been with even a mediocre defense in '12.

    Not as good as this year's offense. The stats prove it.

    Thru 4 games:

    2012

    @ Houston
    Rice
    @Illinois
    @ Virginia

    2015

    Southern
    @WKU
    @KSU
    FIU

    Do you think SOS might have a little to do with it?

    But, if '15 proves to be better, I'll take it! Then heck! I hope '16 is better, and '17 better still, etc....

    For now, after 4 games: 2012 > 2015

    This years team has one problem......and they know it and have discussed it.....they have a problem finishing...they get to the red zone and can't get in to score. But, they are solving that problem and I believe they will be fine the rest of the season.
