Our PA announcer did a great job throughout the game referring to them as Lafayette; "first down Lafayette", " unsportsmanlike conduct, Lafayette", "delay of game, Lafayette".
You could almost see that entire red section collectively twitch every time he said it.
Really I was hoping the stadium would have chanted "U-L-L" (Similar to U-S-A chant) towards the end of the game. Just to show them that not only were we beating them, but we making sure they knew their real name and place.
You know the really sad thing? They would be incredibly embarrassed/angry if we pulled such a stunt. Just by cheating the full, rightful name of their alma mater...
Think about that. I would NEVER be embarrassed if someone jeared at me by calling us Louisiana Tech University (or even LTU to spite us) because I'm incredibly proud of my university. Win or loss.
I feel sorry for them. Well... Maybe not...
Or even Louisiana Polytechnic Institute (or LPI) since that's what's on my diploma. They really go ballistic if you call the USL or even SLI.
Even the sunbelt refs called them Lafayette a couple times.
It as an SEC crew, but still...
According to the TV people, ASN, it was a Belch ref crew last night. They said it multiple times.
yeah I see that now. Weird that everyone kept saying it was sunbelt. Makes more sense why they called them Lafayette.
