Two more coaching changes today. George O'Leary is retiring as head coach at (0-8) UCF effective immediately.

Also, Al Golden just got fired at the University of Miami after their 58-0 loss at home against #6 Clemson.

    Re: 2015 Coaching Carousel

Please move my thread to this thread, I didn't see it.

Quite a few openings this year already.

    Beckman - Illinois
    McCarney - North Texas
    Spurrier - South Carolina
    Sarkisian - Southern Cal
    Edsall - Maryland
    O'Leary - UCF
    Golden - Miami

We know Memphis and Houstons coaches are on the short lists. I could see Holtz, WKU's and MU coach getting some attention this year with a conference championship. I can see the OC's at Baylor and TCU being on short list because the excitement of their offenses. The Toledo coach will be a hot commodity. Maybe Hudspeth if they want a bodybuilder HC that doesn't have a signature win.

Going to be interesting. Anyone else on the short list.

Some outside the fishbowl believe a CUSA title means you beat some directions/regions. More impressive to beat {insert state} University, {insert state} State University or University of {insert state}.

Outsiders may be quick to note we have not been winning these kind or games, even though Coach Holtz seems to be taking us in the direction Tech supporters want to go. Some Tech $upporters may believe Coach Holtz would have preferred to just send someone to get our check and leave at halftime two weeks ago in Starkville. I heard someone joke that after our performance in Starkville that in the future no athletic director will ever let us see a money-game check until after the final gun.

The only reason Tennessee hired Dooley was because we had the lead at the half against LSU. No way he even made the long list with one good year beating WAC teams.

Dooley also beat Mississippi State, among others.

Chipdog is on the right trail...Fortunately we will have Skippy for a few more years because I do not see him making a lateral move, and when you get handled in every major game, no interest will be shown. I like what Skip is doing for our program and the young men that are recruited to and represent our University. Things can always be better but no major complaints from me.

Yes. I believe HCSH can almost certainly coach Louisiana Tech, in CUSA, to at least Division Champs every year, Conference Champs at least every other year, and have us a bowl appearance every year - and I don't believe we should expect any less. However, I don't believe it is realistic to expect us to be ranked in the Top 25 without winning a P5 OOC game.

tend to agree but exclude Boise... Boise has been a top tier program for long time. Beating Boise is a big deal--still agree with your opinion

gave you green dot. Coach says things that are not what fans want to hear but I am comfortable because to me they are realistic. Man has beat ND and had l teams in top 25. His Goal is win CUSA and if that means protecting Dixon, Henderson etc before we start CUSA run --so be it-- . If we had beat KS or WK , he may have gone a different direction. Winning CUSA, New facilities, TV exposure, another bowl game, stable coaching staff , the success of Sokol, Driscall and Dixon make the future bright to me-- but again, I am still the resident sunshine whatever

Make no mistake. Not one of our current CUSA conference-mates could compete with the best of the Fresno State, Hawaii, Nevada OR Boise State teams we have faced.
