I disagree with the bolded statement. HCSH didn't play our best player because he was hurt. Some, including me, may be upset with the play calling in that game but I don't think for one second he didn't try to win it.

An unscrupulous coach, not like HCSH but maybe coach thud or coach monkey, would play that player to try and get some quan.

I don't know if you would have to go so far as to say only an "unscrupulous" coach would do such a thing. And I'm not talking about playing injured players. I'm talking about the possibility of a coach having a mindset that might include some of the following components:

    1. bowl eligibility is my first priority because the conference I am in is one of the easiest to get to a bowl and I get a bonus.
    2. winning our division is my next priority because to do that and win against the one FCS team on our schedule should get me into a bowl and I get a bonus.
    3. winning the conference will all but guarantee a bowl and I get a bonus.
    4. beating an out OOC team does me no good towards any of the above with much lower hanging fruit to go for and I get no bonus for doing it.
    5. beating bigger universities will only advance the university, but not me - all I HAVE to do to satisfy these supporters is go to a bowl every year and I will have it made in the shade.

Which makes me think. Can we become the first message board to "tag" other posters? Where you type their profile name and they get a notification in their settings?
What about a thumbs up and a thumbs down?

@BryanDFischer: Half of the FBS schools who currently need a new HC played Ohio State. Never seen that before. Buckeyes are the grim reaper of coaches.

Mike Riley may be a one hit wonder at Nebraska. They are wondering why they hired him.
