I have to do more research into the specifics, but I believe the schools that are within 10 miles of a city with 50,000 population will be classified as metro, while everyone else will be classified as rural. Not sure if the plan is to completely split during the season, or go with the current setup of having districts with teams from both classifications and then separating only in the playoffs.

Skimmed right over those two paragraphs I reckon.

So, Notre Dame of Crowley coach Lewis Cook has proposed a rural/metro playoff system. If your school is within 9.5 miles of a major metro area, you are metro. If not, you are rural.

The proposal has several scenarios, among them three rural titles and three metro titles. Or four rural football championships and four metro championships. - See more at: http://clarionherald.info/clarion/in....0NVVei2b.dpuf

So . . West Monroe population is <15,000. They getting screwed cuz Monroe is across the river? This way, OCS, St. Frederick are considered metro, too, rather than select or rural?

All you need is public/private split based upon enrollment. It worked for 50 years.

    Metro vs Rural split?

If this means Rummel gets to compete, in the playoffs, against the very best, I'm for it. If not, then tweak it again.

    Yes -

The coaches I'm familiar with say this will not fly... (I believe St. Fred's would be considered metro and OCS would be considered rural under this proposal)

Most everyone wants to go back to a "fair" multiplier for the privates and combine and get back to just the 5 title games as it should be
    ''Don't be a bad dagh..."

0-21 too big a hole in first half for West Monroe.

    Division I semis

    Catholic-BR vs Evangel
    Rummel vs Curtis

    Battle of the Elites

While I 100% support a return to the way it was, it is also very possible this would have been the 5A semis anyway. Provided Evan and Curtis played up.

    Possible for sure.

The seedings might have changed everything. While I don't have a problem with the seeding system, I do have a problem with high seeds being forced to go on the road to play low seeds. There is zero reward for being a high seed.

    Re: LA HS Football Playoffs

I could support the higher seed having a home game. Of course, that would mean the top 4 seeds would always have a home game until either, they were upset, of course, or until they reached the semis and then the #3 and #4 seeds would hit the road. On the flip side, the system of 2012, which is the last year of the old way, gave a measure of "fairness" to it and made reaching the Dome even more challenging for the higher seeds.

The counter-argument to being so dependent on seeding is the confidence one has in the power rankings. If you think the PRs are accurate, then yes, the seedings are earned, and fair. Overall, I think the PRs are fairly accurate. One could make a case that maybe the #4 and #5 seeds should be switched, as an example. Or, other examples. But, generally, in 5A, which is the only classification I follow/study closely, I usually can't argue (much) with the PRs.

Yes, 5A is really the only class they seem to be fair for.

On the other end of the spectrum it has always been unfair for 1A teams, but even more so with the split. Example: This year St Fredrick barely squeaked into the select playoffs as a 16, while Delhi Charter earned a 7 seed. When they met head to head, St Freds appeared to be the better team. I don't think Delhi Charter fans would even argue that. It was all about the schedule for Delhi Charter working in their favor for power points while St Freds did not have a favorable schedule power point wise.

The new commish does seem to want to fix some of the problems. Hope he can.

1A is a massive participation trophy, and has been since the change. That being said, I'll take my alma mater taking its 3rd state title in 3 years.
