Could it be because he wasn't a god at all? In Ezekiel, he refers to him as a god when he first meets him, but, later on refers to him as a man. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYW_lPlekiQ
Don't waste your time trying to completely describe God, or things God reveled to man. Descriptions of things we can't describe can mess us up.
In the case of "the angle of the Lord" etc in the Old Testament indicate How God could reveal (some of) His character to man in angelic or human form. In our sinful state we couldn't take the fullness of His holiness.
And, no, God doesn't need a spaceship. Not likely what is being symbolized.
Don't think the purpose of this was to "prove" God exists either.
If he really wanted us to behave a certain way he wouldn't leave any room for doubt regarding his existence.
You, and all of us, are without any excuse Guisslapp per this verse and many others.
Romans 1:20
For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
It may say that TT, but there is plenty of room for doubt. This is particularly true as religionists have had to increasingly contort scripture to be consistent with prevailing scientific understanding (except for people like you who just ignore science altogether).
I think you misread my statement then. I said if he really cared how we behaved he would leave no room for doubt. Obviously how we behave and WHAT we believe is not that important to him. He allegedly appears a few times sprinkled in over thousands of years of human history and does unbelievable things and what he really cares about is that you believe the oral traditions of people that you have never met - these people that you have never met that are saying some really crazy stuff. Yeah, what is important to him above and beyond what you believe or how you behave is that you select the right book and just trust it is true. If you get this correct, then he wants you in heaven with him. If instead you apply your skills of reasoning (that I assume he gave you) and you decide this epistemology is not reliable, he is not interested in you. You should just burn in hell.
Really?
