Rhino, I am not sure about this. USM was better than us at most positions on the field. Our players we can usually count on have had the worst 2 weeks of their Tech careers. We self distructed and pressed the issue and it beat us. Look at Trent's fumble on that return. When we feel like we have control, he doesn't do that. Dixon fumbling hasn't happened, to my memory, as often or in a pressed situation like it did today. JD was hurried and looked like he forces nearly every throw today. Really bad tasting medicine for fans, coaches, and players today.

Yes, we didn't discuss it much last week. J.D. hit him a little high in the pads with the ball. The verbal exchange following the play didn't indicate J.D. bought the excuse. I am pretty sure the NFL scouts won't consider that ball hit him high on the pads last week and not sure what they will think about what they saw today.

Sorry, should have said that differently. In years past, if felt like Dixon had as many fumbles as touchdowns. He did fumble the exchange last week. Just like today. It hasn't bee the norm this year though.

I thought the same thing. Run some I-form or the T and let Dixon have some speed when he gets the ball with some lead blockers out front.

Handoffs out of the shotgun are a much worse option. You risk a bad snap, the RB gets the ball at a standstill, and the OL has to do all of the work. This isn't rocket science. The I formation has probably been around for 70 years.

Yeah, I was so glad we didn't put up more than 17 "style points" at UTEP last week or 24 "style points" at home in our CUSA West Championship game. Monken's team beat the living HELL out of us today and they looked very STYLISH in the process. But at least we were very hospitable today.

The delayed handoff killed us. USM was in our backfield on every play and was very disciplined in not overrunning the play. At least from the I Dixon could have met the defense at the LOS instead of 4-5 yards behind it.

Since the defenses like to focus so much on Dixon, why aren't we running any "play action" BOOTLEG passes or play action passes, or middle screen passes?

The wheel route was wide open today, but Driskel overthrew the receiver again, and we never went back to it.

We never throw the "post" route anymore. Why not?

JD holds the football far too long. He's too indecisive, and doesn't trust his receivers to get to the ball he throws. He overthrows all of his deep passes (20 yds+) and doesn't throw enough to the middle of the field. He throws too many "down and out" pic 6 opportunities. Quit doing that!!

There....I said it. I just can't believe no one is telling this kid these things.
