She played but it was limited minutes. No idea why, she's too talented to sit on the bench unless maybe she's sick or a little banged up.
UCLA lost to ND 92-84 in OT.
I found the stats on Denver's website. Looks like Anthony played 15 minutes but only put up 1 shot, which she missed. She did have 5 assists and a steal though.
Looking at the stats, two things caught my attention. Pomeroy going 1-9 fg and Cleaver going 1-1. Off night for Pomeroy, but Cleaver only taking one shot in 17 min. I understand that Wingate was having a career game, but....
Great data-eyed anomaly catch, Beaver-Dog!
My first thought is Denver must've really denied entry passes into the post.
Second thought is maybe they immediately double- or triple-teamed Cleaver in the post, forcing the outlet pass to an open shooter. Freshmen posts usually haven't developed that part of their game. If that was the case, Denver's game plan must have been to make us win it from outside--and if it weren't for Wingate, they would have.
Of course, someone who actually saw the action today could verify or correct this conjecture!
Regardless, it's a reliable strategy at any invitational tournament where the gym is "new" to each team's shooters. Even more so when the gym is unusual or unusually lit.
The best glimpse of the gym is in this half time pic of the UCLA game.... That had to be a very strange feeling....
The video is from last year, but it gives you a glimpse of a game in action. Capacity is listed as 1000. http://www.ustream.tv/junkanoojam
