Still really no way to know...... I think the HOD is out, but most of the bowls want a team that has fans that will travel.
Yes, it all depends on where WKU and S. Miss decide to go. The winner likely takes Dallas vs Big10. If Independence Bowl opens up vs a P5, USM will get that. They earned the higher ranking and desirability by destroying us.Originally Posted by brtransplant

I saw in the paper today that it could be 5 bowls that have to take 5-7 teams. Any bowl will take an 8-4 team over any 5-7 team, I do believe. That being said, you are right in your assumption that we will only be the least fat gal at fat camp for some bowl. I hope it's not against Ark. State or Appy State. I would rather get drubbed by someone not in the Sun Belt.

WKU to the Miami Bowl vs. Temple
USM to HOD vs. a Big 12 team
Tech to N.O. vs. a belcher

It will be either be Ark. State and Appy State. Either one of those will beat the crap out of yesterday's Tech team.
3-5 teams (depending on next weekend) that are 5-7 will be going bowling. The NCAA will make a decision this week on how to select those teams. It is assumed they will go by APR. in the CUSA bowls thread I posted a list of tope 5 APR schools with 5-7 records.
From everything I read - WKU will be in Miami Beach Bowl. I don't know where USM wants to be, but I'm sure its NO for fans or Dallas for Opponent. That would put us in Dallas or NO. new mexico bowl & arizona bowl will not get a CUSA team this year unless the 5-7 teams are selected by conference affilation with the bowls (ain't gonna happen).
Shreveport isn't going to open up - their are 3 extra pac 12 teams this year unless 2 get in NY6 Bowl.
USM/Tech will be in Dallas or NO.
WKU in Miami
Marshall in St Pete
MTSU has already accepted Bahamas
Arizona will get a Pac 12 team
Let's see... play in the NO bowl again vs the Sunbelch or play in Dallas vs Big10? Lol USM will not choose the NO Bowl. That game is reserved for yesterday's loser.
The fans from SM we talked to had no interest in NO- they aren't stupid. You would have to be insane to pick NO against a SB team. We won that honor yesterday.
Big 10 will not be able to fill the HoD bowl unless a 5-7 exception is made
THey have 9 bowl games and 8 bowl eligible teams - HoD is last in their pecking order. That doesn't even count the fact they might have 3 teams in NY6 bowls
So you'd rather play a 5-7 P5 team over a SBC champion close to home?
Even with a 5-7 team, would you rather be in Dallas or NO? I would take Dallas for sure. I don't want NO and the SB.
