"Never able to win the Sunbelt" is kind of a reach. They weren't there as a full FBS team very long. They are a fairly new FBS program. It would be kind of similar to Old Dominion moving to the AAC in a couple of years, winning the league and us saying they were never able to win CUSA.

I don't think WKU will become a perrennial powerhouse in CUSA. This year was very unusual for WKU in that they literally had a "6th year QB" due to the NCAA granting Brandon Doughty a very unusual medical redshirt, and the Toppers were able to cherry pick some some of UAB's best senior players to plug holes on defense due to the extremely unusual circumstances that took place when UAB shut down its' football program.

Some of the circumstances that allowed WKU be so good this year may not happen again in Bowling Green, KY for the next 40 years.

Almost all the leaders of the current SBC are recent FCS, ahead of almost all the teams that were FBS five years ago...

Besides Ark. St. who's going to beat them? ULM? Troy? ULL? There's a reason those teams are still in the Belt. Also I would argue that WKU was a Sunbelt leader too when Taggart and Petrino were coaching there.

WKU took their baby steps in a baby conference. When they were ready to start making bigger strides they correctly moved up the food chain to do it. Should they have stayed there so they could say they have a Sunbelt Championship? LMAO. It's not a black mark on your record that you didn't win a conference championship during your first few years at FBS. Again, let's see if Charlotte or Old Dominion do it. I'm fairly certain they won't.

Interestingly enough, until last year, one of the teams left behind won part or all of the conference title every year going back to the end of North Texas' run, which was 2004.

Last I counted, we had about 25 or so ourselves....................
