Arkansas State Football on ESPN Tonight

In ESPN's "Bad Beats" segment tonight, Scott Van Pelt and Kevin Nehagni just made fun of Arkansas State football for running up the score on fellow Sunbelch member Texas State. In the video shown on ESPN, ASU was leading 48-17 with two minutes left to play, and ASU busted their asses to try to score again. Instead of just letting their offense simply take a knee with the 48-17 lead, the Red Wolves called timeout and strategized to make sure they scored again with 1:25 left. The ESPN guys were really dogging ASU's head coach, who looks just as intense as HUD at ULL.

It must be a Sunbelch thing: No coach is allowed to have an ounce of class.

Coach Anderson made sure that starting senior tight end Darion Griswold got a a play at QB in his final home game. He was recruited as a QB, and was moved to TE. So Anderson/Bell put Griz in at wildcat QB and got him a great memory. Recruits were there on official visits. I'm sure this "fun" was not lost on them.

Rocky Hayes, who came in as a RB under Malzahn, was switched to cornerback by Harsin. Anderson made sure he got one last carry at RB too, since this was his final home game.

There were offensive players out there on defense at the end too. Our coaching staff has fun. It's part of what they sell recruits.

    From the Arkansas Democrat Gazette

It marked ASU's fourth title in five seasons, and its third outright title over the same span.
It became such a party that Coach Blake Anderson -- who already had been doused twice by players with Powerade -- let cornerback Rocky Hayes play running back, tight end Darion Griswold take a direct snap on a rushing touchdown and receiver J.D. McKissic take snaps at defensive back.
"They had a lot of fun," Anderson said. "They work too hard not to have some fun, and they earned every bit of it. ... We want to win one more, but we're going to enjoy this one for a little bit."

WOW! Maybe they bought the cocaine from their head coach? He looks like he's on something.
