Yes, Louisiana Tech School of Pharmacy to free up funding for ULM football.
No, ULM should keep pharmacy & continue to suck at football.
Speaking of MD's....does anyone else get the feeling that the primary care physician is becoming a middle man to refer you to a specialist? Hell, my MD does not seem to want to get off his computer when examining me. My old primary care physician, an older guy, was totally hands on. He was totally involved with his patients, although he would refer me to specialists, he wouldn't just pass me off. He would do his best to diagnose to the best of his ability, then only refer me if he was convinced that was the best step.
Medicine is getting too impersonal, IMO. I realize that there is a shortage of primary care MD's, but I think that is only part of the problem. The PA's and NP's do the work of today's MD's in many instances. To quote Bob Dylan, "the times, they are a'changin'...."
----Don't know about the Pharmacy school football swap, but rather than a place like Ruston, put the school in Lafayette----got just the place for it in the former Lourdes Hospital area which will connect the Academic and athletic parts of campus----Why would you want to keep a burden of sending them up North? lafayette is not referred to as the Hub City for nothing---Makes a lot of sense!
. New budget being discussed and another 65 million in higher Ed being discussed. ULM already has hiring freeze and email posting potential 34 jobs cut at ULM-- cuts to Tech would be over 4.5 million$. The big picture is state underfunding colleges -- so yes the politics is in full bloom with new governor and politics. Why be on BBB? This new budget deal could impact Tech football more than this years recruiting class and definitely put even more strain on Tech budget-- the big picture looking cloudy
So how is the LA Tech Enterprise Campus and Research Park coming along? Is the school actively recruiting businesses from out-of-state (e.g., California), or companies from the rust belt states looking to relocate? With the right tax incentives and the right plan, there should be some easy pickings out there for us. Also, shouldn't we have some Enterprise campus businesses by now developing technologies that produce income streams (rents, residuals, etc...) for us by now?
I've grown a little concerned with whether LA Tech is properly developing (and managing) its' Research Park. From a distance growth appears to be very slow. We rarely hear anything positive coming out of the Enterprise Campus/Research Park. Then again, maybe I'm just out of the loop. But it seems to me that the Research Park needs some wins. North Louisiana NEEDS the jobs, and the tax base.

We had an election last year. We elected another Edwards, but this one thinks taxes are to be raised to have prosperity. We'll be fortunate to have skin left on our bodies 4 years from now. {hope I'm wrong}
