Time machine: how would you PREvent the Lady Techster's decline?

I'd have to say, there's no way we'd be national contenders every year like we were back in the 80's and 90's. There's too much money and competition now to stay at that level with our resources. However the level where we are at now is unacceptable and definitely was preventable. There's no reason we shouldn't be a Butler of women's basketball. Our program at least should make the tournament every year and make a deep run every few years.

There's no reason we can't win CUSA, but there's a good reason we can't be making deep runs in the tourney. There aren't enough great players to go around in wbball. And we aren't going to beat out the powers for those players. The men's game is deep and a small conference team can get a couple of quality players and go places. The women's game is not. Any time a small conference team makes a run even to the Sweet 16, they've done about as good as its possible to do.

Unless there's a sudden influx of quality players, that's not going to change.
