I thought the South Carolina game was that year, but I like this game better anyway.
I've heard that one of Skip's greatest strengths is how he structures and implements his program. A previous assistant told me he's the most organized and deliberate HC he had worked with (and he's worked with many). I've begun to sense a degree of stability in terms of product. Of course, the biggest challenge will be hiring and retaining quality assistants. Holtz appears to have an abundance of good relationships with guys in the business so that helps. But we're going to need incremental infusions of money if Tech is going to continue to trend upward. Obviously, losing arguably the best RB and DL in Tech history the same year creates some question marks. However, I think the deliberate recruiting of good HS players at all position groups is going to pay off better than the patchwork methods we've seen before. All this to say, I don't expect us to be a worse team in 2018 than we are now. That said, LSU has the assets to be one of the best teams in the nation on a yearly basis. The only thing that would keep them from being vastly superior would be if they retain Miles or hire someone more inept than he is (conceivable but not likely).
Have you considered those Dogs?
Love the payout and the matchup. Great job TM!
Let's not go overboard. It's not like he had to negotiate the payout. That is the going rate.
It's time to close the doors to the Temple of Janus.
We're getting $800K to go to the edge of civilization (Lubbock, TX) and we're getting $1.1M to fly to South Carolina. So getting $1.15M for a bus ride game to Baton Rouge is a serious net expense improvement as well as a potentially huge recruiting benefit.
