    Lay ups...

... by OD beat us tonight. We just got outcoached...period. Never did adjust to the all of the layups that OD made, should have called a timeout sooner when they went on the 11-0 run, did not have a play called for the last play or either our players did not run it. I'm ok with it as long as our coaching staff learns from it. I clearly thought we were better than them. We played into OD's style of play. I can't believe we let them make so many dang lay ups

Maybe I am wrong, but there has to be a way, in a game like that, to clear out more space for our free throw shooting guards to drive and draw fouls. Of course if we aren't getting the calls, it does not good to drive.

In reference to us not getting calls. Gotta hand it to ODU though, they saw an opportunity to physically remove us from the inside game and force us to the perimeter where they knew we'd brick shot after shot.

Yeah, I agree. It definitely is the blueprint to beat us over the last 5 years.

If you can't shoot from the outside, the other team should pack the lane & maybe even play zone. We have proven that we cannot significantly score from the outside. That & the slow starts are killing us!

We scored 53 pts. - they scored 56. Not like either offense set it on fire. The difference was that our two primary scorers didnt get it done and the support cast didnt either. We have no inside game offensively, we did not create offensive off of turnovers and we didnt shoot the ball well.
The perfect offensive formula for a Tech loss. One day we will develop an inside scoring presence which will help in games were our outside shooting is cold. Also, ODU played solid "D" not allowing our guys to drive consistently and get good looks - much like when we played Memphis.
I agree more fouls should have been called especially in first half but at the end of the day we did not shoot the ball well at all.

I was wonder why we seldom drove the basket hard and then step back for a jump shot. And I'm not talking about one of those "floaters". Basically trying to shoot aggressive shots halfway between the 3 pt shots we were missing and the layups we couldn't get to.

Derric may be the only player we have that has a consistent mid-range game. To see two guards on the same team, like odu has, is very rare nowadays. You are right in that is where the most uncontested shots would have been last night.

Uconn won their last National Championship because the had two of those dudes. We may actually have two beginning next year.
