Earlier in this decade, Tech's MBB team was coached by Kerry Rupp. One of his assistants was Nikita Johnson. Nikita recruited Josh Brown to attend Tech to play basketball. Josh signed a grant-in-aid. Shortly afterwards, Nikita Johnson was hired by ULL. Josh Brown followed him to ULL.
The story I remember is that the grant-in-aid is not a binding agreement like the national letter of intent. The letter of intent keeps other coaches from poaching or continuing to recruit the player, but the grant-in-aid does not.
