I think that area was made into a park around the time the TAC was finished in 82.

It was set to be the sight of an amphitheater in the early 90s, but the engineering studies showed very little could ever be built there.

Over the decades there have been constant improvements.

I think an amphitheater could be built, it just take some engineering to make it happen.

Correct on when. It was around the TAC opening time. And it was Coach Garland Gregory who had the vision to fashion a park out of this land. There was no pond back then. Myself and another guy (who I’m still in touch with) kept up the park.

Occasionally, Coach Gregory would go tour the park and swing an axe, move limbs around. We were astonished at how strong he was. A great, great man.
