Good to see the teams acknowledging God's promise to never again destroy the earth with water.

Bobby Wood gave us the lead, and then horrible defensive break downs cost us the match, 2-1 loss. Ireland is a much better side than Bolivia. Next week we move up in class again, and will see France's #1 World Cup starting team. Our "youth" should get a very humbling learning experience. Even if France substitutes liberally and removes their starters, which they most certainly will, I suspect the damage will have been done.

We seem to have the same problem, whether playing veterans or youth, can't seem to mark tightly for 90 minutes.

I'm more willing to excuse youth. Hopefully we learn from these experiences.

Save for Weah, it was an entirely different lineup. I would say very green lineup. You had Wood, Yedlin and a bunch of first caps

The 2018 WC Finals start in a week. We ain't in it. It's four years till the next one...although qualifying starts in about 2 1/2 years from now. US Soccer has every reason to embrace a youth movement. As I recall, Donovan and Beasley earned their first caps in the same match as mostly unknown teenagers back in 2002, or so. There are some good things happening, and some firsts involving young American players achieving success in Europe. Great!

But, if all we do is "teach" the same techniques and/or allow the same bad habits to infiltrate the National Team then these promising young players will just end up losing to Trinidad & Tobago some day.....

Julien Green scores in the 45th min.....at the half USA 1 France 0

    Wow!

But….it's a long way to full time, and I bet the Frogs just got a wake up call.

And we're playing bunker defense...5 on back line and 3 stoppers in front of that. Defending with 8, with Wood and Green, alone upfront. The goal was against the run of play, France has 75% TOP.

France equalizes in 78th min....defensive break down. US suffered an injury and had to sub on the back line. That turned out to bite us. Still, great job overall. 1-1 final score. France had 20 shots, we had just 2. Bobby Wood appeared to have scored in the 48th min, but he was just a hair offside.

Happy news! The US....and Canada and Mexico too...has been awarded the 2026 WC Finals. That's just 8 years away. Make your plans!

Most of the games will be played in the US. Heard only 10 matches each will be played in Canada and Mexico. Of course, there will probably only be three home games at Azteca.

Houston and Dallas are both host sites.

Will get tickets as soon as I can.

I had two tickets given to me by a vendor for the games at the Cotton Bowl in the '80's. I promptly gave them away.

They have a respected coach who’s turned a lot of bad teams into decent teams, but hasn’t gone beyond that. Iran is wherever Skip Holtz is at the moment. Iran is Louisiana Tech.

I have a colleague from Iran. We laughed about this!
