I was listening to Bernie Sanders speak after his big New Hampshire win and one thing was clear... he hates the rich. He doesn't think it's fair that there are billionaires and also poor people in the same country. That just isn't right. This country was founded on fairness. He implies that the billionaires are corrupt and are stealing wealth from the poor people to keep them down.

I wanted to see who these evil people are and I discovered that there are only 536 billionaires in this country. Most of them I don't know. But I do know some of the names and I don't think they stole from the poor to become so wealthy. Here are some of the names and how they generated so much wealth:

Bill Gates: Microsoft Windows inventor
The Walton Family: Wal-Mart
The Koch Brothers: Oil refining
Mark Zuckerberg: Facebook
George Soros: Hedge funds
The Mars family: Candy
Phil Knight: Nike
Michael Dell: Computers
Steve Jobs family: Computer
Rupert Murdoch: Media
Eric Schmidt: Google
Pierre Omidyar: Ebay
John Menyard: Grocery stores
Ralph Lauren: Clothing
David Geffen: Movies
George Lucas: Movies
David Green: Hobby Lobby
Bruce Halle: Discount Tire
Mark Shoen: U-Haul
Donald Trump: Real estate
Ronald Lauder: Make-up
Bernard Marcus: Home Depot
The Ilitch family: Little Caesars Pizza
Steven Spielberg: Movies
Fred Smith - Fed Ex
Nick Saban - football coach (just kidding)
Jerry Jones - Dallas Cowboys
Reid Hoffman - Linked In
James Jannard - Oakley sun glasses
David Filo - Yahoo
Mark Cuban - Sports media / Dallas Mavericks
Bill Marriott - Hotels
Ted Turner - Media
Jack Dorsey - Twitter
Anne Gittinger - Nordstroms
Tom Benson - Saints / Car dealerships
Edward Stack - Dick's Sporting Goods
C. Dean Metropoulos - Pabst Brewing Co.

It makes a difference to put names to the rhetoric doesn't it? Are these evil people stealing from poor people? What would the country be like if we didn't allow innovation and ideas and services that make our lives more enjoyable and easier? And how many of those folks are HUGE Democrats? Look up the charitable giving of each one of them and you will find it's in the hundreds of millions every year (on top of the taxes they pay).

Another quick fact is that to be in the Top 1% that the Socialists decry so often, your income must be $300,000 a year and up. How many athletes and entertainers are in the Top 1%?!
