How about the novel concept of paying for something you receive. TOPS should be a scholarship for the best and the brightest, not every kid in LA should qualify. I have paid for 4 years of college for my daughter at Tech and it is around 20k a year including housing and I am happy. The same education in Texas or any other state would have cost me more. The problem with TOPS is over 50000 kids pay little or nothing towards their education. When its free and you don't have to earn it, you don't have any skin in the game. This is a bad lesson to teach our kids.

End TOPS and put all available money in the budget that is left over into a scholarship program. Have potential students request the funds based on merit and boom crisis averted. Balancing a budget is easy, spend less than you receive. That's the lesson that needs to be taught.

I was really trying to figure out why so many conservative people on this board and others were b**ching and moaning about TOPS cuts when it looks suspiciously like an entitlement. I thought, maybe I'm wrong and didn't want to look like an idiot. It looks like a good idea to grant scholarships to the very top, has morphed into an entitlement for college students.

Crap people, pay for your own D**n college. Taxpayers shouldn't have to foot your entitlement, too. Kill TOPS. What ever is left is sent straight to the colleges to do with as they see fit.

It took me six years while working full time and borrowing thousands. Second took two years while working full time.

Do people really compare this kid to Trent Taylor?? He is 5 inches taller and 20 pounds heavier. Also he is a burner with legit 4.4 speed. He is closer to Carlos Henderson than Trent Taylor. A 2017 WR corp of Henderson, Tarzan, Kam McKnight, and Quinn could be dangerous.

Full disclosure I know they have one HUGE similarity that most likely makes everyone compare the 2. Quinn is more of a Jordy Nelson than a Wes Welker

Actually, the 3* evangel guy only "Penciled Tech In" and his pencil had an eraser and he has opened recruiting back up. Maybe he will write Tech back in, maybe not. Tech will be fine.
