Needless to say many lakeside properties have water in them. Lake full of "trash" and several boats that were not secured. A mess.
Yep, at daylight I told the wife "I better check on boat in boat house." Nearly too late. Managed to get it out of boat house and loaded on trailer and out of lake with help from neighbors and their tractor. Lots of people went swimming in the early morning yesterday on Lake Claiborne.

We are over 20" here. Not sure what kind of gauge the weather peeps use, but they are showing a little over 10". They are only off by about a foot.

It's all about where you measure it. We're always in a drought because it never rains at Houston International Airport.

    From the Farmerville Gazette:

"If there is an expert on flooding in northeast Louisiana, John Stringer would be that guy.

“In 40 years, I’ve never seen anything like this,” Stringer said Thursday morning.

Executive director of the Tensas Basin Levee District, Stringer oversees levees that protect property adjacent to the Ouachita River from the Arkansas line south into Concordia Parish. He says the storm system that has dumped over a foot of rain across the region in less than 48 hours has caused conditions he’s never experienced before.

“You don’t see the (Ouachita River) rise 10 feet in a day like it has over the last 24 hours,” Stringer said. “Four foot increases on D’Arbonne and five foot increases on Lake Claiborne, those things have never happened.”

Despite steady rains that fell overnight in the 1,500-square mile watershed that feeds into Lake D’Arbonne, the National Weather Service has not revised its forecasted crest on the lake. The Shreveport office of the Weather System predicts the lake level will reach 90 feet early Saturday.

At 6 a.m., the level of the lake stood at 86.07 feet. Just 48 hours prior, the lake level was 80.68 feet.

The record crest on the lake was on April 30, 1991 when it reached 90.78 feet.

Some friends of ours in South Shreveport have lost everything. Water up to their roof currently. Southern Trace is flooded pretty bad too. Crazy...and more rain coming tomorrow.

We got a break here in WM yesterday. The folks east of us got hammered pretty bad. We are getting it again this morning and it looks like we could get several more inches today. The count will be over 30" in less than 72 hours which is over 1/2 of our average annual rainfall.

Just wondering if any BBBers are flooded? Thankfully I'm not.

I answered the phone for Louisiana 2-1-1 yesterday for 3 hours and took over 100 phone calls. Lots of people in trouble. We have about 15 inches before water gets in our place on D'Arbonne. Crossing our fingers.

Well the good news is there are no drought conditions, anywhere, in the State of Louisiana.

Three of my rent houses got some water damage. But, nothing major. I am going to take a drive about the area today and see what's what. I know some in the Sibley Lake area have been flooded out.

What is 2-1-1? Is that a flood hotline?

The Ouachita River is flowing or flowed backward at Sterlington. It seems the elevation at Sterlington was higher than at Felsenthal. Corps of Engineers guy in Vicksburg said it was a first for him.

Bodcau Lake has gone up 12 feet in the last 3 days. It's now 15 ft above normal pool.
