I think that there are probably 3 most likely candidates.

Here is how they stack up statistically in the 5 major categories (Top 40 in each)

Trey Freeman ODU has been POW three times. (1/25/16; 2/1/16;2/8/16)
1 in scoring averaging 21.2 per game.
12th in assists
21st in steals.

James Kelly MU has been POW 3 three times. (12/28/15; 1/11/16; 2/22/16)
3rd in scoring with an average of 20.5 per game.
3rd in rebounds at 9.8 per game
6th in Blocks
9th in steals.

Alex Hamilton, III TECH has been POW 3 times. (12/14/15; 1/4/16; 2/29/16)
4th in scoring averaging 19.5 per game.
1st in assists (6.3)
2nd in steals (2.0)
19th in rebounds (5.7)
33rd in Blocks (.47)

I think Alex is likely to add the final POW of the season next Monday too after last night's performance.

Adrian Diaz of FIU has also peen a POW 3 times, but all were basically pre-conference and his team is not in the top tier.
The only other multiple winner is our own Erik McCree with 2 POW's. UAB as a team has 2 with Chris Coakley getting one pre-conference
and William Lee getting one in conference play. Surprisingly no Robert Brown although he probably makes all-conference.

I think with Alex's strong finish TECH will have the POY for the second straight year.

I agree. Up to last night, I had conceded the POY to Kelly. But Alex put on a clinic last night! He was driving against 2-3 defenders and finishing all game. Kelly put up his numbers but most of them came against one defender.

You may be onto something with Kelly. With him being a one year transfer guy, he should be the newcomer if they still have such an award. Alex has been in this league for 3 years.

Anybody think Jean makes All-Freshman??

The Conference USA All-Freshman and All-Defensive Teams, as well as superlative awards for Freshman of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and Sixth Man of the Year will be announced Tuesday. The C-USA Player of the Year and the C-USA Gene Bartow Coach of the Year will be unveiled on Wednesday.

After the completion of play, It still looks like a 3 man race for POY.

Alex, Freeman and Kelly all made first-team all conference as expected.

They were joined by Robert Brown of UAB who is clearly the leader of the regular season champs but doesn't stack up statistically with the big 3.

The final member of the all-CUSA team is Marcus Evans, a freshman from Rice who was second in scoring. Evans was named Freshman of the year as expected today.

Since my initial post Alex added the final Player of the Week award giving him the lead for the season. There was a small amount of movement in the final
stats but nothing significant.

James Kelly was named Newcomer of the Year today as expected (following Freeman from last year)
