Obama called Hatch's bluff. By the way, Hatch supported Garland in 2010 as a "consensus nominee" when Sotomayor was actually nominated.

Hatch told CBS this morning he wouldn't hold hearing for Garland.

What was Hatch's reasoning as to why he wouldn't hold a hearing?

Hatch: The senate answers to the American people, not the president. And the American people I think deserve to have advice on this decision. We're not going to move or even discuss the qualifications of any nominee until after the presidential election. (incoherence) really a historical precedent which was (or is) established by members of both parties we are moving the supreme court from the petty politics of an election year. When you look at this horrific, action packed political election year we have right now a supreme nominee at this particular time is no the way to go.
That's the best transcript of his first answer I can give. Just watch the video. The main answer comes around 3:05 in the video.

By the way, Hatch had secured Garland's confirmation to the DC appeal court.

Thank you for going above and beyond. I was simply asking for a paraphrase!

So since Vitter the whore monger (15 years removed) is opposed to the hearings we should all jump on the Obama train?

His weak and anti-gun stance I believe makes him a huge no go.

I've stopped trying to paraphrase so much on questions of fact.

The GOP establishment desires to have the next president (Hillary or Trump) nominate the person to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court. Hilarious! Could the nominee be Obama or Palin?

Obama played this perfectly. This guy is CLEARLY to the right of who Hillary would nominate and he's in his 60s. The Senate either capitulates or they risk whatever young liberal judge Hillary nominates...after down ticket republicans are slaughtered by Trump or the Brokered Candidate.
