Louisiana Tech University
Flagship of the University of Louisiana System
I don't believe so. The minimum $900K start up fund gives it leverage and validity that LISA never had. (LISA served a great purpose when it was needed and was a good organization for many years)
I love listening to the whining public school peeps...
- We welcome you.
- We welcome you, but need to change the rules to keep a fair advantage for everyone except the Catholic league.
- We welcome you, but need to change the rules even more.
- We welcome you, but we need to set up a new system that prevents the public school powers from having to play you or the Catholics.
- We tease you into thinking we may go back to old system.
- You threaten to leave and set up your own organization. Go ahead!
- This is crazy! It won't work! It will destroy Louisiana High School football as we know it!
I love it!
No doubt the LHSAA has had poor leadership in the past (mainly K.H.), and I'm not so sure about the new guy, but there's no denying that private schools have a distinct advantage over "most" public schools as far as athletics go. I believe the best option is to have no split, and to actually enforce the rules already in place.
How difficult would it be to just make students prove that they are not getting "scholarships" to attend private schools?
Very difficult I imagine. The problem is not where they attend, it's how they attend.
Magnet and Charter schools have an advantage over privates and Catholics. Even then Catholics can choose to waive tuition. I suppose Evangel, Calvery, and some of the others do that too.
I grew up a good ole LISA boy...back when there were 1 AA and two A districts in Shreveport area alone. Plus 1 A and 1 AA in the Monroe area.
Cryptic Crickets?
No stance, just against change.
Yes. They seem to be holding their own. I think oil field money a few years ago helped them out a lot.
I played for Woody Boyles back in the day. He was one hell of a coach!
