Swing and a miss. UAB 10-8. Final
Rhythm is definitely important which is why most coaches set up a 1-4 pitching lineup and stick with it until it fails. I think everyone can agree that Clancy is your ace and one's ace normally throws on Friday to give the team the best chance to get a much-needed first win in a typical weekend series. It can be really tough to win a series after dropping that first one.
Clancy threw 3 games in 12 days to start the season with an average pitch count of 93 (including 107 thrown against the Cajuns in his 2nd game). That's pretty stout and pretty risky as well. That was my point.
A new article has been posted on www.latechsports.com:
Louisiana Tech erased a seven-run deficit and held a one-run lead over UAB after eight and a half innings of play Saturday, but the Blazers scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to complete a 10-8 comeback win over the Bulldogs at Regions Field in Birmingham.

Pitching is killing us now that conference play has started.
How many times have we said, "It' all about pitching"?
Sunday game: Tech has retaken the lead 5-4 in the top of the 8th.
However, UAB's best two batters will start the bottom of the inning off. Coach Goff was tossed earlier in about the 4th inning.
Going ti the 9th with Tech on top

Too bad they've blacked out the stream so we can't listen.
Gotta get 3 outs and no runs from these first 4 batters. We don't want to face Tresgallo or Gum at the plate.
Tech wins 5-4. Adam Atkins fanned the Blazers in order to close it out!
