If abortion is the only issue that matters to some of you, I understand the issues most of you are having then. This isn't a political issue for me. I do not support abortion in 90% of the situations; however, I know than banning of things does not work. You could outlaw abortion tomorrow, and the problems would still persist.

My question then becomes what do you really care about? Quit saying human life because we aren't passing laws and agendas to further take care of human life, which I might add takes place outside of the womb for much longer. Thinking abortion is so important makes me think this has much more to do with personal beliefs and religion, which quite frankly don't belong in the conversation of national decisions.

Do you remember why our country was founded? I absolutely disagree with you on them not belonging-Christians have rights too and should not be silent. If people had taken a stand based on their beliefs many years ago, we would not have the issues we do today. There are many things to be fixed, but the first one is for Christians to take the stands they should be. Christians sitting home have allowed us to be destroyed by Obama and allowed people to sit on their butts in Washington and do nothing. I have many issues that are important to me, however; if you get the first one wrong you are worthless to me as a candidate and I will never support you. No one said abortion is the ONLY issue- you are saying that, it is just the eliminator for me. You don't support anything I stand for if you can kill or support those that do.

Notice! The military is SIXTEEN percent of the budget. The interest on the debt is almost half of what we spend to protect our national interests.

The amount spent on social and welfare programs is WELL OVER 60% of the budget. Four...FOUR...4...FOUR TIMES THE MILITARY BUDGET !?!?!?!?!

You need to stop watching CNN and MSNBC and the MSM.

The rich?

Wealth is not taxed in this country. We tax earnings, which are normally the product of hard work. Punishing someone for working hard is just plain dumb.

Democrats identify anyone with a household income of $60K a year as "rich". They're not "just plain dumb", they're just plain evil. .

I agree about the abortion issue. That act is indeed sickening, but it's not the issue in and of itself that affects my thinking. It's all about the presence of or lack of a moral compass. It affects way more than just that issue.

my list:
1) genuine respect for the constitution (we don't have a king -- the law is king)
2) can't be someone willing to sacrifice financial sanity for popular programs (we can't continue to borrow money to pay bills)
3) general understanding and intellectual honesty on sound economic principles (it is not sustainable to tax productive people/businesses at high rates to pay for non-productive things)
4) (related to number 1) respect for individual rights and states' rights; limited view on the role of government (and a plan to nominate federal judges with the same view)
5) willing to do unpopular things related to the four issues above that are likely to result in no chance for re-election

I notice that nobody has Foreign Policy as their number one. It's important to remember that just about any other policy position is heavily moderated by Congress and the courts. But foreign policy decisions are much more spur of the moment, and often require quick action. That's why the POTUS is CIC, and has a great deal of autonomy in military decisions. First and foremost, a good president has a firm grasp of geopolitics and the nuances of the global system. He must use restraint, but also be willing to use force when necessary, without hesitation that can allow the enemy time to maneuver the chess pieces.
