Would love to see him succeed.
Great story about a great Bulldog!
Great story, it would certainly be something if he made the most of this opportunity. I don't think it has ever been a question of talent. He has a strong enough arm and I am sure has improved his accuracy. He also can make some plays with his legs. THE issue has always been turnovers and int's. Hope he can eliminate those mistakes and if so it looks like he will be the QB. He should be able to produce 6-7 wins if he can and I can live with that in a rebuilding year, given all we lost on D and on O.
The tough part is we get only 5 home games this year and will almost assuredly start out 1-3 (losses @Ark, @TXTech, @MTU, and win SCSt). After that we likely finish 6-2 the rest of the way.
Absolutely, with all we lost on defense, I am much more concerned about the other side of the ball. We got torched with elite talent last year vs every good team we played. I believe we will be able to find a QB who can manage the game and win 6-7 if we can improve on the defensive side of the ball. I like our roster at QB with the OL and WR we return it shouldn't be that hard to play QB next year.
I really hope our QB cupboard isn't so bare that he is our best option. Unless he's made some major improvement in the offseason, I have yet to see anything from him that says he's ready (or will ever be ready) to be a starting D-1 QB. We shall see.
In the Spring game last year he was very sharp.
That's exactly what Florida fans said about Jeff Driskel. One Florida alum friend of mine thanked me immensely for "LA Tech taking him off our hands". Now after one of the best QB performances of 2015, NFL Combine, etc. Driskel will be a multi-millionaire in April. LOL
QBs don't remain inexperienced FR-RS's for ever. They get older, wiser, stronger, and become much better prepared for the job- with time. Nobody on our roster comes close to the experience level of Higgins. It's time to put the 2013 football season to rest.
