Looking at ESPN's top 100 recruits, there is only 1 girl from Louisiana and 2 from Arkansas. Texas is loaded. Is Louisiana's high school girls basketball that weak? It would sure be nice to get a big or two from East Texas.

Thanks for starting this thread, Beaver-Dog.
ESPN has been doing this a few years now. It would be interesting to see what the trend lines are for different states/regions.
No one ever said that Beaver-Dawg, wasn't on top of his game!
Thanks Beaver..
Thinking we had that awesome gal from the Houston area that did a verble last year??
Anna McLoud from Houston.
It's hard for the home schooled girls to get recognized.
Here's a short article on Mccleod and teammates winning the 2015 Texas Home School State Championship.

I see where Lauren Cox, the #1 ranked recruit from Flower Mound HS is going to Baylor. The rich get richer.
I think what "The Beav" is implying is that we are not rebuilding in a geographic recruiting vaccuum. Ideally, we'd rather rebuild at a time when there is plenty of local talent available and no dominant recruiting competitor setting the pace. We won't have that luxury.
Most thought Cox would go to Notre Dame, so that's another feather in Mulkey's pigtails. Since changing her staff she's landed the top two post players and now the top overall player.
Tyler generated a lot of coverage for the program here, but those were human interest stories. Next step must be to get some wins and upset a good non-conference team. We've got to prove this staff can develop players to attract the next tier of talent.
But to our credit we'll have nation-wide draw just because of the family atmosphere this staff has demonstrated. There's evidently something special going on within this group.
Good assessment...... I am under no delusion that it is going to take a while to start attracting these types of recruits again. We all knew that once we fell, it was going to be extremely tough to climb back up. I do think Tyler is the one that can do it, if anyone can, though. It is just going to take a lot of time. We have to start winning consistently again and, then, attracting that one special player that can take us the next step up. Slow slow process...... That is not to say that we can't begin to win some conference championships soon, though. I think Tyler is recruiting the right players for now and we can build upon that. Win some conference championships, get back to the tournament, and see if we can begin the climb back from there.
Just for comparison, here's an article from 2014 on recruiting a top homeschooler.

If Anna has a good experience here, maybe we can become the home-away-from-homeschool destination of choice. That might just be the route by which we secure that first breakthrough recruit.
