Yeah, that was significantly more than I thought we would pay. Nearly $1.4M over 6 years and a higher priced assistants' pool.
Well, we are a women's basketball school aren't we?
Is this all "taxpayer" money, or is some of it from a foundation, i.e. private donors?
Regardless, I think we have a good coach....and I mean both on and OFF the court!...who will rebuild the program. Brooke is the first coach since Barmore we have had who is actually Barmore-like. We will see improvement on the court, and just as importantly, we will see other changes in the culture of the program. Every Tech fan (except Maddawg) will be pleased.
Its the same salary as Summit. LTAC is picking up the additional part of the salary. Not sure this is too big of a deal.
I grew numb to our obsession with over compliance of Title IX years ago.
Summit was paid way too much. Our AD left a bunch of money on the table with that deal too.
Just to be sure...In the world of EllAyeTech WBB the HC salary bar is set based on what the last coach made, but in the EllAyeTech world of college football the HC salary is set on getting a good deal?
BTW, the great negotiator was going to redo HCSH salary back in February. What happened?
If we don't pay the new head coach, we're considered cheap. If we do pay, our AD got out-negotiated. He can't win.
We had to pay up to get the Brooke to leave Natchitoches and come back home. After what happened the last time, when we didn't hire the Stoehrs in favor of a 23-year-old with no experience who ended up leaving the school in scandal, it's not like we had a lot of leverage. Brooke and Scott loved Natchitoches, and they had proven they could make it to the tournament there. We had to make it worth their while to leave, and obviously after the mess we found ourselves in, our athletic department determined they were worth that investment. I happen to agree.
the bold, the beautiful, theprofessor
More fans and even an additional/different fan base is a good thing. Plus women in general along with H.S. and college young women will take notice when we play hard and win. And if they take on our new HC's mentality and character then everyone wins! They will be full of pride as will the rest of the TECH Family.
I'll take it!
We certainly could spend ~$1.4M over 6 years a little more wisely.
We've got mens' basketball assistants leaving because we're too cheap. That is a sport that DOES have an ROI.
