When that met staunch opposition, he switched to raiding the surplus account. No new taxes, and I mean, come on, the money is just sitting there, earning interest, in a silly "rainy day" fund. Let's blow the whole wad!
Now....let me see....Lee Posey is an moronic democrap, who along with other 'craps around here, have been on their bandwagon lamenting the state's budget crunch, how it affects NSU, and how it has caused a reduction in taxpayer funded allocations from BR to Natch. to put on silly festivals. Not fair! They all blame Jindal for the state's mess, because, after all, he inherited a surplus in the state's "rainy day" fund and he blew through it, without providing a means to replenish it, i.e. taxes.
So now, the geniuses in Natch. decide to mimic what they accuse Jindal of doing and raid the "rainy day" fund meant for water/sewerage to build baseball fields. Not only does this eliminate that safety net, but INCREASES the city's obligations to now have to maintain a new facility.
Now watch....a few years from now some crisis will strike the city's water/sewerage system, there'll be no money, so whalloh! a call for increased taxes. Surely voters will vote themselves a tax increase then, to provide clean water "for the children."
As an aside, a company approached the City of Natch with a request to set up a demonstration of a new water treatment system that would save the city $millions annually, just on the chemicals they would no longer need to buy, and on electricity to power the new system in comparison to the huge water treatment plant. One would think that the officials at the City would jump at a chance to allow the demonstration, understanding they were under no obligation to purchase it. Then make their own assessments of the results. But! apparently someone at the chemical company who is selling $millions of chemicals to the city was alerted and stepped in and had the demonstration stopped. Wonder how much went under the table for that one.
It is spelled "corruption." Good ole democraps in charge, mind ya.
