QB U has another legend to add to its storied list of products. Louisiana Tech quarterback Jeff Driskel, who found immense success over his time in Ruston, was chosen in the sixth round of the NFL Draft when he was picked up by the San Francisco 49ers Saturday with the 207th overall selection.

Go and kick some butt Jeff! You have earned and deserve the shot at starting QB in the NFL.
Driskel joins a program that has churned out some of the best quarterbacks the game has seen. Legends like Terry Bradshaw, Matt Dunigan, Mickey Slaughter, Tim Rattay and Luke McCown are all part of the LA Tech Family and have called Ruston home.

This could turn out to be a good place for Driskel. We all know about Kaepernick's struggles last year, and Jeff is a perfect fit for the type of QB Chip Kelly needs to run his offense. It will take some time, but if Jeff can finally work with the same coaching staff for longer than a year in an offense that's built around his strengths, he could do really well.

Not bad. So, after subtracting the up front signing bonus, Driskel will earn approx $636,615 per year. Subtract another 20% (which may be low) for agent fees, and Driskel should be left with about 500K per year for 4 years. That's not bad for ridin' the pine while learning the NFL game. I'd love to see a LA Tech guy beat Colin Kaepernick out for the starting job.
don't forget the fed and state taxes-- also san fran is expensive place to live. The big bucks will come if he can make it of course but also endorsements and commercials can bring big money--remember how Kap was doing commercials after first year ( now endorsements gone as far as I know). I would like to know how much is guaranteed BUT that said-- awesome to see Tech Football and Coach Holtz turned his career around.
