I don't blame Goff for this schedule, but without those SWAC games, everybody would projecting us in the tourney right now with a Top 30 RPI.
The only game I question is adding a second game against Grambling late in the season.
I agree nobody including Goff thought we would have a shot at an at-large bid. I think you have to schedule wins to build a program, and that's what Goff did.
Also, I know some of these game contracts were signed by Simoneaux like the TAMUCC series. What's interesting about the March floods is that it may have preserved our baseball at-large hopes by cancelling the TAMUCC series, but it may have cost us a 40-win season and a softball conference division championship.
It's good to play in NOLA but not against HBCUs. Grambling is the only HBCU I think we should play only because they are our neighbor. From now on, we can't afford to play the other SWAC teams.
We didn't get a break by UALR getting canceled. A win over UALR (they have winning record) would've helped our resume.
That UTSA game really isn't a big deal. 1) We have to play it. 2) It was on the road so the RPI only counts it as a fraction of a loss. 3) We won the road series.
