Sun-Herald: "CUSA Should Dissolve or Get Creative..."

Sean Fox kicked this article around on the radio yesterday afternoon though I didn't catch the whole discussion. The article came out right after the media contract info was released but before the additional info on details. The conference is trying to be creative to survive. I hope it does. But is what it's doing enough? All things considered, should it?

No substance at all to his article. If a guy is going to write panic button articles he should offer numbers, solutions, etc., as to why he thinks what he says.

    Get creative? Really?

    - He referenced schools going back down to FCS. It's been proven (on paper) many times that going back to FCS will not save money. Idaho is the exception.
    - He referenced "more regional conferences" as a solution. A solution to what? It's also been proven many times that travel costs don't make up the kind of money C-USA lost from TV.

This guy is a hater whose school was left behind by their perceived peers who went to the AAC. Not sure why he was given the time of day by our local media.

Bingo. That article is laughable. I didn't know someone could fit so much stupidity and ignorance in a newspaper article. It's just click bait. He's sharing it with every fanbase in C-USA and the Belch. It's sad that newspapers have stooped to these lows.

This is not about Sean, it is about the USM homer who wrote the article.

Sean was looking for discussion material and had the guy on his show. I really don't think he realized how dense the guy was until he was on live radio doing the interview. Sean gave him a number of opportunities to explain himself, but the writer is just clueless and changed the subject every time he was asked a direct question.

Maybe that's just who he is.

I caught the last minute of the segment and Fox mentioned the article's title and the Sun-Herald as he wrapped the segment, so I went and read it. Didn't get to hear the guy explain anything. Wish I'd heard what he had to say. With the way y'all are reacting, he must have been a piece of work.

Seemed like some grist for the off-season mill.

Isabella sounded just as clueless as the USM guy when Sean asked him about it today. Neither writer understands what happened with the TV deal or the history of realignment. The "regional conference" thing is laughable as a money saving measure.

Seems to me the USM guy has been spending too much time on the CUSA board. There's what seems like 2-3 dozen threads either saying which teams deserve to be in CUSA and which don't, "trading" teams with the upper crust of the sunbelt, who's next to get the call from the AAC, or a combination of all 3. It all just reeks of off-season boredom for the college football fandom.

Exactly. It's what fans do on message boards and have for many years.

Writers need to dig for info instead of regurgitating what they read (or hear in the basement of the TAC).
