FYI: Steve Kerr had never been a head coach or assistant (he'd been a GM and an announcer) prior to taking over in Golden State. He's one win away from winning back-to-back championships in his first two seasons. (Note: I'm not saying that Cannizaro will be Kerr. Just that playing a sport at the highest level counts for something.)
On the other hand, there's also the coaching records of Isiah Thomas and Magic Johnson.

And...you guys just listed basketball players.
And...all three are three of the greatest to ever play.
This is baseball...and the guy played for part of two seasons.

Not that any of that matters. I'll take someone with some HC experience please. Thx.

I'm sure numerous names have been submitted, I just hope we stay in house for this one.

Nothing about Andy Cannizaro excites me as a hire.

so is that supposed to give him an automatic bump to the top of the list? I haven't read that section of the La constitution, but I knew something like that is in there.

IMO, Rick McCarty would be a very interesting pick. He was heavily involved in Tech's signing of the 21 juco's in the fall of 2015 that became the foundation for our 2016 run. McCarty also is a long time (2 decades?) diciple of Goff. So the guy knows how to recruit. Does anybody know why he left LA Tech for the same job (pitching coach) at Dallas Baptist? I know DB is a longtime college baseball powerhouse, so it may have just been an opportunity for McCarty to bolster his resume.

Ostrander and McCarty both look like great candidates.

I can't think of anything we've ever gotten from LSU that was any value. No thanks.

Dooley was good imo. Paul Turner was good. Hester has been good. I don't know anything about Cannizaro, but I don't think his being from LSU dq's him.

I'm sure DonW would disagree. He loved Jerry Stovall, he was so much better than Pail Miller.
