We will NOT have a broadcast degree unless the Board of Regents approve it. They won't cuz GSU and nlulm already have them.

We were lucky to have a print journalism program alone. The Regents tried to take THAT away and the statewide reputation of J-Dept. head Wiley Hilburn blocked it.

In the 1970s we had a small broadcast program (one class) through the speech department, but that's as far as the Regents would let it go.

PS-Hilburn's reputation was so strong he did get HD a job after journalism school.

2 of those 3 schools you metioned will probably not be around in three years. This state simply cannot afford them. we have totally missed the mark for many years now with marketing & development. If the current crew cannot make something big happen soon then look forward to 3 money on the road per year.

It should be simple, but before they close those schools the school(s) in the UL system doing a good job will continue to receive less and less. Our state government, and particularly higher ed, is a prime example of a socialistic belief system not working. It also shows what a horrible result we get from the HBC system. Yet we keep feeding the monster and the politicians are too yellow to take a stand.
