Just trying out random beers.
Abita's Big Easy - The lemon peel thing had me expecting something else so the first taste was surprise. After a few slow sips, it's not bad. I doubt I purchase another six pack.
Abita ipa is the absolute worst beer I have ever tasted.

No flavor. All I can say is I bought one of those sample 6 packs that had 3 different Abita beers in it. All 6 guys at the camp agreed the "ipa" was the nastiest thing they ever tasted. Heck I had to google ipa just to see what it stood for.

IPAs are an acquired taste in many cases. If you're not a craft beer guy they can come across very badly on first taste. India Pale Ales have a very strong floral taste and high alcohol content.
The craft beer revolution has brought lots of IPAs into the public eye.
Give the Seersucker Summer Pils a shot. Pretty good Abita offering, imo. Also, Southern Drawl by Great Raft is a really solid local brew. It's my go-to weekend/yard work/honey-do list beer.

Traveler's Grapefruit Shandy is pretty good.
India Pale Ale was brewed to be shipped to India for the soldiers. It was high in hops to preserve it. When the first brew pubs opened in Houston it was my choice, but lately I find that brewers now put way too many hops in it. I actually couldn't drink the last one I had because it was way too bitter (hoppy). The first Sam Adams (draft) I had many years ago I had the bar tender pour it out.
I don't think of myself as a beer snob. I spend a year and a half in Germany way back in 1970-71 and really enjoyed all their beers. Every town, no matter how small, had one if not two local breweries. My favorite draft was a draft beer from Auschaffenberg called Bavaria Brau. A very smooth and creamy lager. Of course it was strong. Generally one beer (half liter) made me hungry, two made me sleepy and the third conked me out so with dinner I usually stopped with two.
